To be candid, if you want to
play with absolutely perfect strategy at Deuces Wild video poker, you should
get yourself some strategy cards. Then, follow that with practice, practice and
more practice. Strategy cards are excellent teaching tools, for they allow you
to quickly reference what playing cards you should hold onto and which should
get discarded. Just don't become reliant on your strategy cards. With practice,
drill the hand scenarios in you head, and do your best to answer for yourself
the correct action to take before consulting the cards.
In the meantime, you can take baby steps with an easily memorized simple
strategy, which despite not helping return the low Casinos Edge that perfect
strategy affords, will still help you stretch your bankroll (Remember, getting
in as many bets as you can is what it's all about).
Here are some essential tips that you should always practice. Don't worry if
some of them don't make total sense. Depending on your familiarity with poker
hands and 5-card draw poker in general, these concepts will make more sense the
more you put them into practice.
- Never discard a deuce, even if you can draw for a natural Royal Flush.
Remember, the Deuce is wild!
- Never keep a 2-Pair. Although you would for Jacks or Better, a 2-Pair does
not pay at Deuces Wild.
- Never hold a single card, unless of course, it's a deuce!
- Never hold a Deuce with just one other card (making a Pair). The best
option is to discard all cards but the Deuce.
- Do, however, keep a Pair over a Straight draw of four-card Flush.
- Look for games that pay 5 to 1 for the Four-of-a-Kind - This hand makes up
one-third of all wins.
